Meet MAX MMC—naming consultants and more.

MAX MMC, Inc. was formed in 1988 as a uniquely structured agency without walls, offering
strategic and creative marketing communications services for a nationwide biomedical client base.
We started as a full service group—providing communications planning, market research, corporate
styling, advertising, direct mail and educational materials—and corporate and product naming was
a specialty then and remains so today. Each member of the MAX team has grown up in the
healthcare industry and has spent years in the Madison Avenue creative environment.
We produce communications that work...to get you started with the right name, establish your
corporate style and build or enhance corporate image to increase awareness and sales.

Marilyn Liptscher Kram
Marilyn brings first-hand knowledge of healthcare to the marketing and promotion of a broad range
of healthcare products. Her nursing background and her extensive experience conducting and analyzing
market research for major biomedical manufacturers are distinct assets in the development of
communications strategies that work. Her work has encompassed many medical disciplines, including
cardiology, respiratory, oncology, pathology, radiology, osteopathy, and dermatology. She has participated
in marketing a range of biomedical products and services related to wound care, incontinence, diagnostics,
drug delivery, and home care. As a principal in Max, Marilyn has also had account responsibility for a major
contract research organization. Prior to forming MAX Medical Marketing Communications, Marilyn was an
Account Supervisor at Lavey/Wolff/Swift with responsibility for Support Systems International (SSI), Division
of Hill-Rom; Promeon, Division of Medtronic; and Brinkmann Instruments Corporation. She also headed the
West Coast office of PRISM (Public Relations in Science and Medicine) for BBDO/HMC, the parent company of
Lavey/Wolff/Swift; and was an analyst for the consulting group, Channing, Weinberg & Co., which became
The Wilkerson Group. Currently, as a marketing communications consultant and producer of healthcare
communications materials, Marilyn continues to demonstrate that coordination of the creative effort
depends upon good communication with her clients—for input—and effective management of the
creative team—for successful output and execution.

L. Lee Culvert
As insightful with strategic planning as she is with creative execution, Lee combines her unique gifts for
writing and copy styling with the creative direction that earned her the repeated recognition of clients and
peers during a twenty-year Madison Avenue career. Before joining MAX, Lee was Vice President,
Group Copy Supervisor at Lavey/Wolff/Swift (LWS), the biomedical and pharmaceutical right arm of BBDO.
Earlier, four years as copywriter/client contact at Falcone Associates, Summit, New Jersey, marked her
transition from the scientific community to marketing communications. Lee began her writing career when
she published independent research as a clinical lab supervisor. Her award-winning advertising campaigns
include product promotion for Miles Laboratories, Winthrop Laboratories, Ortho Diagnostics, Squibb,
Becton Dickinson, Burroughs Welcome,  Brinkmann Instruments Corporation, Medtronic, and Biometric
Research Institute. Her work is notable for strong verbal and visual signals suggestive of consumer advertising
at its most powerful. Naming is a specialty and MAX NameDropper™ is the culmination of a naming program
Lee designed while at LWS.
